When you have something that you need to bring up to your spouse or someone else you love, it is a good idea to use what is known as the “sandwich” approach.
This means that you start by saying something kind and loving, then bring up what you need to bring up, and end with saying something else that is positive. This way, the person whom you are addressing is less likely to be offended and will likely feel better about the whole situation. You are not the enemy.
If you simply throw negative things out there, you risk severely hurting feelings, which can fester over time and lead to bigger problems and resentment.
