Day 313: Profile of a Father: Saving Mr. Banks

Story of “Saving Mr. Banks” is based on the real life of the author of Mary Poppins, who went by the name P.L. Travers. Her father was a kind and whimsical man with his children, but also suffered under the plague of alcoholism, which caused him great trouble in being able to provide for his family, affecting both his health and his conduct in the workplace.

The sad truth is that we each have the ability to be a good father or a bad father within us. The one that manifests itself might vary from day to day or from hour to hour, but it is up to us which of our natures we allow to have dominance. Our struggle is only to figure how we can allow the better man who is within us to show his face as often as possible.
