Day 268: Green Eggs and Ham

We were all Dr. Seuss fans growing up, and so we knew the story of “Green Eggs and Ham”. Now, I know that the name “Dr. Seuss” is German, but we used his creation to celebrate an Irish holiday that also has to do something with the color green.

Every St. Patrick’s Day, my parents would make a big batch of scrambled eggs and drop some green food coloring in them so that’s they turned about as green as you see in the book. We often added a few drops to glasses of milk to make them green, ate other green foods, like salad, so that we had a completely green meal on St. Patrick’s Day.
