If you are a dad, then you know how difficult that first kid can be. It’s just such an adjustment and it’s a shock to your wallet in many little ways that you do not expect.
We live in an area where we have a lot of extended family, our family is huge with “cousins by the dozens” as we always say. Many of my cousins are younger than me and so are becoming parents after me.
A few times, I wife and I have securely done what is called “the baby angels”. It’s sort of like the 12 days of Christmas, but for someone having a baby. We secretly dropped by a gift once a week for nine or 10 weeks before the baby was due. Each of these gifts was accompanied by a little poem that my wife made up and were gifts like diapers and wipes, baby clothes, formula, little things that they would need for the baby.
The fun part about this, is that it something you can plan with your kids, letting them help you wrap things, letting them pick things out, and even letting them make deliveries. If you get the whole family in on it, it’s even more fun, and it teaches your children an important lesson about being generous and helping others in the way that others helped you.
