When and where did he live?  He was born on September 24th, 1936 in Greenville, Mississippi, and died on May 16, 1990 in New York City.

What was he the father of? Why is he famous? Jim Henson was the father of the Muppets, the special kinds of puppets used in such shows as Sesame Street and The Muppet Show. He also worked on several movies, such as The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth.

How many children did he have?  Did they follow in their father’s footsteps? He had five children, three daughters and two sons. According to Jim’s wife, he spent so much time with his work that he did not have very much time to spend with his family. This eventually led to a separation from his wife.  All of his children started working with the Muppets at an early age in order to spend more time with their father.

What can we learn from him? It is good to have a passion, but it is also easy to put so much into it that you don’t have enough time to devote to your family. If you can, involve your children in your passion so that they can spend more time with them.
