Creating a handprints journal
One interesting thing that my parents did growing up was to create a footprint and handprint journal. This entails having each member of the family open up a new page in a binder, place their hands in paint and putting their handprints on the pages of the open binder. We then repeated the process with our feet. This created a visual record of every member in the family. As we did this over the years, we built up a record of growing up, that started with tiny childish hands but quickly grew into large teenage ones.
We also had a spot every house we lived in where we would mark everyone’s height every year to show just how much we’ve grown.
Sure, we documented important events with words and pictures, but this was something else that provided a unique view of where we had been.
